Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins is the Ring-Bearer of the One Ring. His primary job is to take the One Ring to Mt. Doom in Mordor to have it destroyed. He is one of four Hobbit representatives in the Fellowship of the Ring.

Frodo was the son of Drogo, Bilbo's relative, but he was adopted by him when his parents died, and he was raised as Biblo's son. He was still a very much a young boy, in hobbit society, when Gandalf came to Hobbiton on Bilbo's one hundred and eleventh birthday (which was also Frodo's thirty-third). On that night, Bilbo left the Shire to live with the Elves in Rivendell. He left behind everything he owned to Frodo, including, though at his great reluctance, the One Ring. Gandalf instructed Frodo to put it away and out of sight, before leaving to investigate Bilbo's peculiar behavior, regarding the Ring. Although the span of time is hastened in the film (or appears so), Gandalf does not actually return to Frodo to inform him of the journey he must begin until seventeen years after The Long-Expected Party. In the book, Frodo began with Sam and Pippin, and they met Pippin later on, all according to plans they had made. In the movie, he encounters them by accident in Farmer Maggot's crops. Frodo follows Gandalf's instructions by going to the village of Bree, but he does not find Gandalf.
